THCa Flower are the raw, unprocessed buds containing high percentages of THCa also known as tetrahydrocannabinolic acid.
In layman's terms THCa is simply the precursor to THC. THCa is a cannabinoid that converts to THC or delta 9 when exposed to heat. When a heating element is applied to THCa flowers, the the decarboxylation process occurs. Decarboxyl ation removes the extra carboxyl group and converts into THC (Delta 9 THC) and is readily available to be absorbed by the body's endocannabinoid system.
The FDA does not explicitly ban the production and sale of THCa flower which essentially makes THCa flower legal at the federal level and protected under the 2018 Farm bill but certain states do ban it because in fact THCa is the precursor to THC.
